Finish Descriptions

Stains
rule

Stain: Stained finishes enhance the natural characteristics of each individual wood species by enriching natural graining and color variation. Stain colors range from light, to mid, to dark tones and enhance the style and feel of your home. Unfinished cabinetry is also available. View colors.

Paints
rule
Painted finishes give you flexibility. Depending on your application, painted finishes can fit any style. Paints have the ability to add unexpected pops of color, heighten the luxury factor, or even give a casually aged appearance. And remember, you’re not limited to just paints. Mix and match paint and stain finishes for a pleasing contrast. Woodland painted finishes are available on Maple, Oak and MDF. Paint application is a three-step process. First a primer coat is applied, then components are sanded, and finally a pigmented self-sealing top coat finishes the process.

Standard Paint: Our standard paint colors cover all the basics. View colors.

Designer Paint: Our designer paint colors are specially chosen to coordinate with popular home interior trends. View colors.

Glazes
rule
Glazed finishes are designed to bring out dimension and depth. Hand applied over the top of your stain or paint color choice, glazes build up in corners and edges, accentuating the finest details. This effect will also deepen your color choice giving an overall warmer tone. Glaze finishes are especially dramatic on the more detailed door styles. Not all glaze options are available on every stain and paint color.

The images below show how each glaze technique produces a unique finish. The first image is an Ivory painted door with no glaze. The next three images all have a Wheat Glaze applied using one of our three different glaze techniques.
glaze examples

Standard Glaze: Woodland uses a hand-applied, wet glaze. Glaze is applied to all finished components and is designed to build-up in the profiles and corners while the rest of the component is wiped clean. Wet glazes will slightly tone the base color. Available on stains and paints.

Brushstroke Glaze: Choose this finish for a truly artistic look. It starts by first applying a Standard Glaze finish as described above to achieve accents in the profiles and corners. Then subtle brushstroke lines are hand applied on all flat surfaces. Only available on paints.

Feather Glaze: A softer, more delicate glaze finish. Feather Glaze gives you subtle, hand applied glaze lines on all flat surfaces without the heavier glaze build up in the profiles and corners. Some slight build-up will occur. Only available on paints.

Top Coat
rule

Top Coat: Top coat application is completed on our state-of-the-art flat line finish system. Woodland’s top coat is a catalyzed conversion varnish, oven cured for a superior seal and the durability to withstand the elements of everyday living.
